Guidance Program at JenkintownThe Guidance program helps students appreciate themselves, and become more independent and mature people. It strives to provide students with the information they will need to make decisions regarding their education and personal lives.
School counselors assess students' needs, focus on the obstacles that prevent students from succeeding, and develop strategies to support learning and growth. Counselors work with parents, teachers, and students to select course and plan for life after high school.Annual Individual Growth Plan (IGP) meetings are offered to students and parents. All counselors are members of the Students Assistance Program (SAP) whose mission is to work with a team of students, parents, teachers, and the community to identify students at high-risk and facilitate the right actions. The Importance of Planning for CollegeStudents at Jenkintown start planning for college in 9th grade. Students, parents, and counselors will track graduation progress and set goals for life after high school. Parents and students are recommended to meet with counselors each year to develop a plan for graduation and beyond.
